Above The Fold…

This morning, in the WSJ on-line edition, right at the very tippy top of the page in the left corner, minutes after the “”market”” opened, the WSJ marketing machine was busy helping Wall Street sell more of its inventory:

Of course, if the eager co-marketers of stocks at the WSJ had waited even a few more minutes they would have seen that the future jammers only accomplished a few minutes of said “stability” before the selling resumed.

In other words, the chief function of the US press is the same whether it’s the Skripal case, or the stock market; advance the current meme using the “right” words carefully selected to offer hope, reprieve, or whatever else seems to shape perceptions.
