We who would advocate against corporate tech surveillance need to gather high quality, high credibility sources.
Here is one such source from Amnesty International. It’s a 60 page PDF about the threat that Google and Facebook represent to human rights. They argue that just the fact that they’re gathering this data is bad, even if they keep it internal, because it’s too tempting a target for nation states and criminals. It’s valuable to almost any organization. Nations will demand it, criminals will obsess over figuring out how to steal it. Eventually both will get it.
