Seeing them as spoiled, overly-indulged children gives the best insight into their behavior.
Much of what they ask for stems from the spoiled child’s realization that Mommy and Daddy are kicking them out of the nest soon and they’ll have to support themselves.
So how do they deal with what every young adult has to deal with? By finding a new Mommy and Daddy of course. So, who are the candidates for spoiled baby’s new parents:

1. Government. Yes, just like Mommy and Daddy gave baby an allowance, paid for their healthcare and education, now all that falls to the taxpayers through Universal Basic Welfare, Obamacare, and the rest of it.
2. Employers. Ah yes, they must pay baby not what the market says they’re worth, but based on baby’s material wants and demands, just like Mommy and Daddy. And all on baby’s terms, of course.
3. Rich people. They have money and should give it baby, just like Mommy and Daddy did. Because reasons.

At the heart of their “me first and fuck everyone else” mindset is a spoiled child seeking another set of indulgent parents.
