KFC said Monday that it will test plant-based chicken in partnership with Beyond Meat Inc. BYND, +1.22% starting August 27. Beyond Fried Chicken will launch in Atlanta, available as nuggets served with dipping sauce and as boneless wings served with either Nashville Hot, Buffalo or Honey BBQ sauce. Complimentary samples will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Those who want to purchase can choose from a nugget combo meal, served with a side and drink, or four-piece à la carte plate, or boneless wings in a six- or 12-piece plate. Feedback from the Atlanta test will play a role in whether there will be more tests or a potential national roll out. KFC, a Yum Brands Inc. YUM, -0.22% brand, is the latest chain to put Beyond Meat on the menu. Others include Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. DNKN, -1.13% and Del Taco Restaurants Inc. TACO, +1.56%. Last week, KFC announced Mac & Cheese Bowls would be added to the menu, starting today. The dish combines macaroni and cheese with a popcorn chicken topping. Yum Brands stock was up nearly 1% in Monday premarket trading, and up 14.2% for the past three months. Beyond Meat stock gained 3% in premarket and has soared 84.3% over the last three months. And the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.32% is up 0.7% for the past three months.
