Bill Gates inadvertently funds the fact checkers through funding the Annenberg Foundation, who helps fund the fact checkers. The Annenberg Foundation is described as a family foundation that supports the worldwide community through its grantmaking and direct charitable activities. I guess fact checking is a charitable activity.
