It is as easy as 3 steps.

1. Make a government entity (say the CDC) the ultimate authority on some issue.
2. Donate so much money (through various means) to the entity that they have to consider a “simple request”.
3. As donor, play up a former Exec from your industry (that you know will look out for the interests of your industry, not the public) and get them appointed to a position of influence in the entity.

Now you control the oversight.
