MSNBC Uses Obama-Era Video to Claim Trump Denies Water to Illegals

MSNBC “AM Joy” program, Reid ran video showing U.S. Border Patrol agents dumping out jugs of water that had been strategically placed in desert regions near the border for illegal immigrants. What Reid neglected to mention — indeed, she even tried to cover it up with a chyron across the bottom of the screen — was the date of the video of Border Patrol agents dumping out water left for illegal immigrants, which was Jan. 10, 2011 — squarely within the first term of the prior administration of former President Barack Obama.

Following the lead of MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell from Friday night, host Joy Reid on both Saturday and Sunday cited video dating back to the Barack Obama era as evidence that, under President Donald Trump, the U.S. Border Patrol destroys water supplies left in the desert for illegal immigrants, thus putting them at greater risk of dehydration.

As the chyron was shown on screen, the time stamp of the video showing that it was recorded in 2011 was initially obscured, although, when it was repeated a bit later, the date was very briefly visible.
