President Trump Paid Millions of Dollars Worth of Taxes

By Gabrielle Seunagal
For months, the President’s political foes asserted that his refusal to release tax returns to the general public was engendered by his failure to “pay his fair share” and exaggerations of his amount of wealth. As of yesterday, this narrative was thoroughly disproven. Rachel Maddow of MSNBC humiliated herself last night during her pitiful attempt to paint Mr. Trump in an unfavorable light.
In an interesting turn of events, Maddow’s two pages of the President’s tax returns from 2005 revealed that he paid much more than his “fair share” of taxes. In 2005, Mr. Trump earned $153 million dollars and paid $36.5 million in taxes. His payments were fitting for his income level and he  paid 2.5 more than most taxpayers in America. This revelation must be devastating to Democrats like Hillary Clinton who falsely accused the President of tax evasion. Yet another attempt to smear Mr. Trump has failed.

Interestingly enough, President Trump paid more in taxes than Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama. Sanders’ federal income tax bill amounted to $27,653, which is less than half of the President’s federal income tax bill. His federal effective tax rate was also 25% in 2005, which is also substantially higher than the tax rate of Obama. How ironic that the very people who accused the President of tax evasion actually paid less in taxes than him. Sanders repeatedly lamented about the obligation of wealthy people to pay taxes, so I suppose he will send more money to the IRS. Of course he will not. Since the release of the President’s tax returns, Sanders has been silent. Yet again, Democrats prove themselves as flagrant hypocrites.
Recent news should serve as a warning to liberals to proceed with caution before slamming their political opponents with baseless assertions. The President undoubtedly paid his “fair share” in taxes; nobody can argue against this now. The media works tirelessly to sabotage the Commander in Chief, yet they fail each time. There’s a saying: “If you can’t beat him, join him.”
