Scientists Have Invented a Mind-Reading Machine That Visualises Your Thoughts

If you think your mind is the only safe place left for all your secrets, think again, because scientists are making real steps towards reading your thoughts and putting them on a screen for everyone to see.

The machine managed to reconstruct each face based on activity from two separate regions in the brain: the angular gyrus (ANG), which is involved in a number of processes related to language, number processing, spatial awareness, and the formation of vivid memories; and the occipitotemporal cortex (OTC), which processes visual cues.

The angular gyrus is a region of the brain lying mainly in the anterolateral region of parietal lobe, that lies near the superior edge of the temporal lobe, and immediately posterior to the supramarginal gyrus. Its significance is in transferring visual information to Wernicke’s area, in order to make meaning out of visually perceived words.[1] It is also involved in a number of processes related to language, number processing and spatial cognition, memory retrieval, attention, and theory of mind. It is Brodmann area 39 of the human brain.
