FBI Director Nominee, Christopher Wray, Commits to Strict Independence. Does This Mean He Would Actually Go After Hillary Clinton And James Comey? Plus, How Does He Feel About The Russia/Trump Investigation?

by Pamela Williams
President Trump’s new FBI nominee has been announced.  Christoper Wray, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on July 12, 2017. He confirmed he would do his job without partisan political influence in response to the first question of the hearing.

Frankly, what I seek from the new FBI Director is the desire to go after Hillary Clinton and James Comey – to get them – and get them good!  I would not trust anyone like James Comey.  But many of Wray’s colleagues say he is unlike Comey.  President Trump has called Comey a “showboat,” and I think he is right on target.
Monique Roth, who served as Wray’s senior counsel at the Justice Department says, “he’s not one of those grandstanders or ego-drive people.  He’s very self-effacing and thoughtful….he’s just a very regular guy with a big heartl.”
Sounds like a good man, but he has to be independent enough to take on the Deep State who is protecting Comey and Clinton!?  Is he the kind of person to take on the most abused job in Washington?  How will he handle himself walking into the Russian probe situation?  Would he be wise enough to see it for what it is?   Just as President Trump said, it is nothing but a “witch hunt!”
“I judge people when they are under pressure,” says Joe Robuck, a retired FBI agent who worked with Wray on a corruption case. “I’ve never run into another person, whether they be a prosecutor, an FBI agent, who impressed me more.”
President Bush nominated him to become the assistant attorney general overseeing the Justice Department’s criminal division, a position once held by Mueller. The former FBI Director and now special counsel.  “At the age of 36, Mr. Wray has accomplished more in the legal profession than many of us, as attorneys, do in  a lifetime,” then-Senator Saxby Chambliss said at the confirmation hearing.  The Senate  approved his nomination unanimously.
Wray vowed in his confirmation hearing Wednesday to be fully independent from the executive branch if confirmed and said he had not discussed the firing of his predecessor, James Comey, with the White House.
“If I am given the honor of leading this agency, I will never allow the FBI’s work to be driven by anything other than the facts, the law and the impartial pursuit of justice. Period. Full stop,” Wray said in his opening statement.
Asked  whether he would maintain the independence of the agency, in light of Comey’s earlier testimony that Trump had pressured him for a pledge of personal loyalty. Wray said he had given no such pledge to the White House and would not if asked.
“No one asked me for any kind of loyalty oath at any point during this process, and I sure as heck didn’t offer one,” Wray told Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
Leahy followed up, questioning Wray on what he would do if the president asked him to commit an unlawful act.
“First I would try and talk him out of it and, if that failed, I would resign,” Wray responded.
Wray said he had not discussed Comey’s firing with the White House and discussed it only briefly with Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein shortly after being selected for the position.
OK, I know he had to say this, but at the same time it concerns me, as I would have wished he would be able to see through the fake Russia investigation.  I am just so sick of this mess!
He added that he is “very committed” to maintaining special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia.
“I would consider an effort to tamper with Director Mueller’s investigation to be unacceptable and inappropriate, and it would need to be dealt with very sternly and appropriately, indeed,” Wray told Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
I am not feeling so positive about this guy right now, so I need to research further on him.  I will be adding to this article, as I find the information I need.

This does not make me feel good about Chris Wray:

Is Comey a ‘Nut Job’? ‘That’s Never Been My Experience’

Now Sen. Al Franken, Democrat of Minnesota is up. He asks Mr. Wray if he believes FBI agents were unhappy and had lost confidence in former director James Comey
“All the people that I’ve spoken with at the FBI…are people who are mission-focused, who believe in what they are doing,” Mr. Wray said.
Sen. Franken also asks him if he thinks Mr. Comey is a “nut job,” a phrase President Donald Trump alleged used to refer to Mr. Comey.
“That’s never been my experience,” Mr. Wray said.

Wray Declines to Criticize Comey’s Handling of Clinton Email Inquiry

Sen. John Cornyn, Republican from Texas, draws Mr. Wray out on former FBI Director James Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server and Mr. Comey’s public comments about the FBI’s conclusions in the investigation.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein cited those comments in a memo essentially recommending Mr. Comey’s firing.
“I need to know… whether you understand the gravity of the mistakes made by the previous director?” Sen. Cornyn asked.
Mr. Wray said his understanding of department policies was in line with how Mr. Rosenstein described them in his memo. He declines further comment citing the ongoing inspector general investigation into the issue.
In conclusion, I am saying it here and now:  Chris Wray will be another James Comey!

  1. Nothing new here.Trump or someone keeps appointing swamp critters. Trump does not command the US Military and he does not run the Executive branch of the government. As a country we are in BIG TROUBLE!

  2. It’s either that, or he knows he has to pretend being a total nut to get the confirmation.
But the fact that he got his first political job from the Bushitler isn’t a good sign.
