New York City is running an incentives program for vaccine uptake. Individuals are to be given a gift card of $100 for each vaccine shot taken.
Homeless and disadvantaged populations see this as an opportunity to make money and are submitting different names to receive more vaccine shots than should be received. This includes children. Workers and administration staff are aware, but are processing anyway.
The total harm done is not known
On top of this, it is reported that a number of gift cards have been fraudulently used and emptied of funds before being handed out to patients that received a shot.
