Inside The War Against Trump: What Does He Think? What Are His Enemies Plotting Behind His Back? PLUS: There Goes Russia.

by Pamela Williams
Are they planning to impeach Donald Trump? Are they just waiting for the right time to shock and awe Trump supporters? What would be the perfect scenario for the Republicans? Becoming the party of impeachment at a time when impeachment is possible transforms crisis into opportunity, allowing Republicans to cleanse their Trump-era sins in trying to repeal the increasingly well-received Obamacare, paying for the Great Wall of Mexico with deficit spending, etc. Vice President Mike Pence takes the helm, steadies the ship, promotes their right-wing agenda with more grace than his former boss, and Ryan and his buddies prepare for 2020. It may appear that the old guard is giving up, but John McCain will never give up. Some believe that Paul Ryan is in that group with McCain and Graham.
At this time, some believe Donald Trump is constitutionally impeachable over his temperament and his possible violations of the emoluments clause. But nothing will happen until he’s politically impeachable. Trump would have to commit a crime or mistake so huge and irredeemable that voters of both parties would find him an unbearable mistake. As we speak the FBI is investigating Trump and his connections. The Constitution’s impeachment clause, Article II, Section 4, states that a president can be impeached only for “treason, bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors,” and of the three, bribery, according to government ethics experts who spoke to the New York Daily News, seems the most likely potential offense. This is because the emoluments clause states the president cannot “accept any present, emolument, office or title, of any kind whatsoever, from any king, prince or foreign state.”

Emolument

The profit arising from office, employment, or labor; that which is received as a compensation for services, or which is annexed to the possession of office as salary, fees, and perquisites. Any perquisite, advantage, profit, or gain arising from the possession of an office.  Trump has business dealings all over the world, which makes him susceptible to violating the emolument clause.
Where do Democrats stand in this? That does not take too much thought, because I am so tired of hearing their cries of anguish over President Trump’s actions.
He is only trying to deliver what he campaigned on. I do believe at this point the Obamacare repeal may be an issue he should back off on, as so many people seem to be benefiting from it. He could tweak it, but as far as repealing it I feel he should hold back for now.
Dems could dodge this looming catastrophe by declaring all-out war against President Trump. It seems to me they already have, but they could go further. For example, Democratic lawmakers could shut down Congress, and thus deny Trump his entire agenda, by denying a quorum, failing to show up until the President agrees to resign. Creating a constitutional crisis would require balls, and we know Democrats don’t seem to have those. However, I am not ruling it out.
What does President Trump think about the war he is fighting against his own government? He is a smart and shrewd man, and he believes Obama is responsible for it all. He delivered this accusation against former President Barack Obama. When asked if Obama was responsible for organizing some of the protests, including the widely-publicized demonstrations at GOP town hall meetings, he said this: “I think he is behind it, I also think it’s politics, that’s the way it is,” Trump said.
Some who were at the town hall meetings said the protestors were Satanists. There could be no other explanation for the way they spoke about abortion. They actually said they liked killing babies. One man said he had no problem paying to kill babies each time his girlfriends became pregnant. When I heard them on Fox News speaking, I thought to myself I had never heard such evil coming from anyone’s mouth. It was vile and shocking.

President Trump’s proposal to slash domestic spending in order to preserve the two biggest drains on the federal government — Social Security and Medicare — has set up the first real legislative test of his tenure to determine who now controls the Republican Party’s ideology. The result could well map the course of big challenges to come, including a revision of the tax code, a huge increase in infrastructure spending, and any effort to balance the budget.
Since the start of his insurgent campaign, Mr. Trump has opposed his party’s long-held positions on a range of policies, including free trade, how to deal with Russia, and the future of government entitlement programs.
Mr. Trump’s budget blueprint — which is expected to be central to his address to Congress on Tuesday night — sets up a striking clash with the House speaker, Paul D. Ryan, who has made a career out of pressing difficult truths on federal spending. For years, Mr. Ryan has maintained that to tame the budget deficit without tax increases and prevent draconian cuts to federal programs, Congress must be willing to change, and cut, the programs that spend the most money — Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
But Mr. Trump, in a dogged effort to fulfill his campaign promises, has turned that logic on its head in the budget outline he is expected to present to Congress this week. That blueprint would make good on his promise to increase spending on the military and law enforcement by $100 billion over the next 18 months. And it would extract all the savings he can from the one part of the budget already most squeezed, domestic discretionary spending, potentially, decimating programs in education, poverty alleviation, science and health.
“For Paul Ryan this seems to be the opportunity he has been waiting for and working for for years,” said Douglas Elmendorf, the recently departed director of the Congressional Budget Office, and current dean of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. “But Paul Ryan’s budget plans with cuts to Social Security and Medicare are not that popular with most voters and what helped elect Donald Trump was the promise not to cut benefits and programs, and that is an unresolved tension.”

Keep President Trump and the American people in your prayers, as there is much at stake throughout this current time. Next, we are going to look at what is to take place as Army Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster takes his position as National Security Advisor. In my opinion, there goes Russia. President Trump started out in an effort to strengthen ties with Russia, but no one wants that. Everyone wants war. People are stupid…bottom line. Prepare yourself as your read the following…it is not pretty, but do not blame President Trump.

Bottom line: The removal of Flynn has convinced Trump that powerful elements within the national security state have him in their crosshairs. As a result, Trump has relinquished control of foreign policy and handed the whole mess over to gladiator McMaster who will coordinate with Sec-Def General James Mattis on a new strategy to deploy US troops to East Syria and West Iraq to establish a permanent military presence in “occupied” Sunnistan. (The area will also be used for natural gas pipeline corridors connecting Qatar to the EU) The strategy in Ukraine will focus primarily on luring Russia into a long and resource-draining war that will further depress the ailing Russian economy precipitating political instability, social unrest and regime change. That is the hope at least, that Russia’s wars abroad will lead to the ousting of Vladimir Putin.
Here are a few cliips from a presentation McMaster gave at the Center for Strategic and International Studies on May 4, 2016. They help to clarify the man’s ominous world view:

“…what I’d really like to talk to you about is (the) period we’re in right now, a period of increasing risks…risks to our nation, to our allies, and really all of humanity……….
globally – the situation in connection with U.S. vital interests and security – .. is changing really in a direction that’s going to raise additional challenges to the U.S. and U.S. national security…. what we’re seeing is a shift in geopolitics in a way that imposes great dangers and has elevated the risk of a major international military crisis to the highest level in the last 70 years. A number of scholars are writing about this – Jakub Grygiel and Wess Mitchell in particular in their great recent book “Unquiet Frontier,” where they describe revisionist powers, Russia and China in particular on the Eurasian landmass, that are surrounded by weak states which are now becoming battlegrounds, areas of competition at the far reaches of American power.” (“Harbingers of Future War: Implications for the Army with Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster”, The Center for Strategic and International Studies)

We have discussed the “pivot to Asia” ad nauseam in this column. McMaster’s comments help to underscore the fact that the struggle to control the “Eurasian landmass”, the center of economic growth for the next century, is at the heart of the US imperial crusade which is now entering a new and more dangerous phase.

McMaster: “I also think Margaret MacMillan’s great essay written in 2014 making the analogy  between 2014 and 1914, and really making the point that geopolitics is back; maybe our – what we might call our holiday from history in the post-Cold War period is over.”
So in McMaster’s mind, another global conflagration on a par with World War 1 is now in the making. Unlike most people, he sees this as a challenge rather than an apocalyptic event that should be avoided at all cost.
McMaster:  “I think what might have punctuated the end of the post-Cold War period is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea. Now, this was – this was not really a new development in terms of Russian aggression. I think you can go back to the denial-of-service attacks on the Baltic states in 2007, certainly the invasion of Georgia in 2008.”

Donald Trump’s first act as president was a visit to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where he addressed gathering of CIA employees. His journey directly in “the swamp” took place almost immediately after his inauguration, and was clearly an urgent first priority.
