UPDATES ON SYRIA – Paul Ryan Says Trump Can Strike Syria Without Congress – Mattis: Chemical Attack Did Occur – Russia To Maintain Law And Order In Syria!

by Ruby Henley

I want to continue to cover the Syria conflict, as it is moving fast.  First of all, this is the latest development from James Mattis. Of course, those at the White House are busy today.

US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has told Congress he believed there was a chemical attack in Syria as he pressed for inspectors on the ground to find evidence.  Further Mattis told the House Armed Services Committee, “I believe there was a chemical attack and we are looking for the actual evidence.”

Mattis said he was concerned about an “out-of-control” escalation in that country’s war, in which Russia, Iran, Turkey and others have taken sides.”  Mattis seems to be on top of things right now and appears to be thinking straight.

Mattis also accused Russia of being complicit in Syria’s retention of chemical weapons, despite a 2013 deal requiring Syria to abandon them that Moscow helped broker.  I agree with this, as Russia did not follow through on that deal.

Paul Ryan said President Trump did not need the approval of Congress to strike Syria.  He said he already had it.

The Royal Navy submarines move within range of launching missiles’ and easyJet re-routes flights.  The world is braced for war as Theresa May calls an urgent Cabinet meeting over the Syrian chemical attack

Syrian government is in “full control” of besieged Douma, and Russia sent its military police into the city claiming they would maintain “law and order”.  So we are looking at a very dangerous situation here. We simply cannot strike Syria!!!!!!!!

Easy Jet and other airlines have re-routed flights near the conflict zone after Europe’s air traffic control agency warned of possible missile strikes.  This is a terrible escalation!

If you follow this website, you can get continual major updates on this situation.  I just found it today, and it is the best I have ever seen. This is really bad, and at this time, I believe war is inevitable, but there is no excuse for it – none!

FRANCE HAS PROOF that the Syrian government launched chlorine gas attacks and has crossed a line that could prompt French airstrikes, President Emmanuel Macron said.

Macron did not specify whether France is planning military action against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government. He said he has been talking regularly this week with US President Donald Trump about the most effective response.

The US, France and Britain have been consulting about launching a military strike. Trump tweeted yesterday that missiles “will be coming” and today tweeted that an attack “could be very soon or not so soon at all!”

Speaking on TF1 television, Macron said that France would not tolerate “regimes that think everything is permitted”.

He previously said any French action would target Syria’s chemical weapons abilities.

Syrian opposition activists and medics say a suspected gas attack last week in Douma killed more than 40 people. The Syrian government has denied the allegations.

Macron’s office and the French military aren’t commenting on pending plans. A military operation would be a big deal for Macron, his first military action as president, at a time of heightened domestic tensions over labour law changes.
