In the south of France (Provence, Alpes, Cote d’Azur) out of 1000 infected patients, nearly on third are under artificial respirator and in intensive care

On November 24, 2021, South Africa reported the identification of a new SARS-CoV-2 variant, B.1.1.529, to the World Health Organization (WHO). B.1.1.529 was first detected in specimens collected on November 11, 2021 in Botswana.”

This new variant is extremely potent in regards in its capacities to send patients in intensive care, nearly one third of all registered cases are so far considered “high risk of hospitalization and intensive care)

It’s potentially already there. There’s one that’s popped up in Southern France thought to originate from Cameroon.
When I last read on it 67 patients had been identified with this variant all suffering moderate to severe symptoms.
