Norway increases Armed Forces level of readiness

The Government has decided that the Armed Forces will raise their readiness, and move to a new phase in their planning from 1 November. This takes place on professional advice from the Chief of Defence. This means that the Armed Forces’ activity is adapted to the serious security situation Europe is in.

– We are in the most serious security policy situation in decades. There are no indications that Russia will expand its warfare to other countries, but the increased tension means that we are more exposed to both threats, intelligence and influence. That makes it necessary for all NATO countries to be more vigilant, including Norway, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
