The recent discovery that the Spike remodels actin (see previous post on platelets and actin remodelling) brought this paper back to the front. The Spike caused the formation of filopodia. Actin remodelling also creates nanotubes, which are modified filopodia.”

In plain English: Spike protein creates Nano tubes between cells, so that it can travel without being detected by the immune system.
