The U.S. officially withdrew this week from the Paris Agreement, a global pact made by a majority of the world’s nations to slow global warming.
The pact aims to limit global warming to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit by slashing greenhouse gas emissions. President Donald Trump has been moving in the opposite direction as he gutted emissions monitoring programs and withdrew from more than 60 international organizations dedicated to the environment and global peace initiatives.
Some of Houston’s oil and gas companies, considered among the world’s largest contributors to climate change, may disagree with the move to cut emissions monitoring programs.
