Low-income families give up their old car and get a government-chosen new one on a three-year lease. Own nothing, pay monthly, and stay within the limits.
Families with ISEE under 30,000 euros can rent a new Euro 6 car for 100 euros a month.
The car must meet Euro 6 standards and emit no more than 135g CO2/km. Max list price is around 14,800 euros excluding VAT.
Must scrap an old car (up to Euro 4) that has been owned for at least 12 months.
Contract lasts at least 36 months with a yearly mileage limit of 12,000 km.
At the end you can buy the car with a 10% discount on the market value.
The scheme is managed by ACI and funded with 50 million euros as a pilot until 2030.
Monthly fee is 100 euros including VAT. Some reports say it covers insurance and basic maintenance, but ownership taxes may still apply.
The DPCM Automotive measure was registered and presented by Minister Adolfo Urso and ACI President Geronimo La Russa in July 2026. Applications will open via an online portal still being finalized. The program is experimental and could expand if it works.
