Boston mayor is using FOIA to pressure private landlords over ICE

ICE posted a market-research notice in late July seeking sources for 249 contiguous parking spaces in Boston near existing or planned facilities.

Wu confirmed the city will submit another FOIA request specifically for any Boston-area responses so officials know who replied.

She said the city cannot block private property but will reach out to those owners to tell them the arrangement is dangerous and does not make the community safer.

Boston already bars ICE from using city-owned property without a warrant under an earlier executive order.

DHS called the move an attempt to intimidate residents who have every legal right to do business with the agency.
