Thursday evening Aug 20 around 6:30 to 7 pm waterspout forms off south shore.
Comes ashore as tornado in Atlantic Beach Nassau County Long Island.
Hits Sun and Surf Beach Club and Silver Point. Tears roofs off 30 to 50 cabanas. Furniture and debris everywhere.
Over 100 people inside the club. One minor head injury or scratch. No serious injuries no deaths.
Possible second one in eastern Rockaways Queens. NWS confirmed the Atlantic Beach touchdown from radar video and damage.
Nassau County declared state of emergency. Search teams checked for trapped people. Found none.
Heavy rain and flooding hit same night. Cars stuck in Jersey City. Highways closed.
