The 30-year mortgage rate reached 6.71%, the highest in 13 months. Existing-home sales are already at a 30-year low, and higher Treasury yields are pushing borrowing costs back toward the 7% threshold.

Redfin estimates only about 967,000 active buyers in July versus roughly 1.46 million sellers. Sellers outnumbered buyers by 51%, while nearly 80% of major metros were buyer’s markets.
