Flights have been grounded throughout Britain after an air traffic control technical failure.
Hundreds of flights have been cancelled across the country, with all arrivals into London Heathrow and Gatwick halted.
Airports including London City, Manchester, Stansted, East Midlands, Birmingham and Belfast City are also experiencing disruption.
The Telegraph understands that equipment at the headquarters of Nats, the air traffic control company, at Swanwick, near Southampton, has failed. Controllers based at the HQ are responsible for safely guiding flights across all UK airspace.

A suspicious item at Miami International Airport sent passengers and staff into a panic as they were instructed to evacuate.
Unverified videos posted on social media showed authorities equipped with bomb assessment equipment entering the international airport. The airport did not immediately release a statement about the incident, and the nature of the threat remains unclear.
Fox News journalist Danamarie McNicholl reported Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office was investigating a suspicious item in the airport’s Concourse D after a dog alerted authorities. As a result, gates D-30 to D-41, including the Concourse D Skytrain and TSA Checkpoint 4, were evacuated. It comes just one day after the harrowing audio from a plane crash at the Miami airport that killed five was released.
