Zelensky speaks at the U.N. today. He tells the hall to keep cutting Russia’s money

He asked the room to choke trade. Lavrov told the same building there will be no pause.

  • He addressed the General Assembly this afternoon in English.
  • Main line. “Russia’s revenues must remain a target.” Trade with Moscow, he said, buys the war more time. Ukraine will keep hitting those revenues itself.
  • He called Putin “Patient Zero,” the source from which war keeps spreading. “Something always seems to stop Putin from saying, that’s it.”
  • Lavrov spoke at the Security Council today. Russia will negotiate a lasting peace, he said. It will not “pause” the war. A pause, he argued, would only let Ukraine rearm.
  • Russia hits the Assembly on Saturday. Putin is not coming. Lavrov is.
  • This morning in Kyiv, before the speech, drones hit the capital. Officials reported two dead and 23 injured.
  • Zelensky also signed a bilateral security pact today with Australia’s Anthony Albanese. He called it the strongest document between the two countries. Albanese added $60 million in military and humanitarian aid.
