Stocks finish the week up. S&P 7,743.41. Oil slips on Hormuz talk. The 30-year still sits near 5.5%

Equities bought cheaper crude and a quiet summit. The long bond did not forget Wednesday’s PMI.

  • Friday close. S&P plus 0.51%, or 39.28 points, to 7,743.41. About 0.7% under the Aug. 13 record of 7,798.99.
  • Dow plus 0.93%, or 478.64 points, to 51,828.62.
  • Nasdaq plus 0.48%, or 129.34 points, to 27,068.72.
  • Week. S&P plus 1.21%. Nasdaq plus 2.1%. Dow plus 0.3%. First up week in three.
  • Brent minus 2.1% Friday to $104.32, MarketWatch said, after talk of a Hormuz path. WTOP also described a drop below $98 in one wrap. Treat $104.32 as the Friday international print and note the wire split.
  • 10-year yield pulled back after a 5.228% high. 30-year settled about 5.5% after breaking that level for the first time in 22 years. Two-year about 4.862%.
