Federal loans (or any loan) should go toward degrees with a realistic path to repayment.

100% agree. Educational institutions that cost so much to attend (College) should be accountable for landing graduates with jobs. Not just “here is your paper, good luck” which is what it is today. Too many grads have no jobs and are stuck – after spending so much for a college…

He’s not banning the degrees. If you want to study african-american history or music theory, you still can. You simply need to pay for it or apply for private student loans.

The student debt crisis in this country is insane and so many degrees today are absolutely useless. The reason college is so expensive now is because the US government started backing the loans. Obviously the universities were going to start charging $200k, because their customer is now the US government instead of the music theory kid.

Taxpayers should only be subsidizing, and therefore incentivizing, degrees our nation actually needs: doctor, engineers, etc.
