ABC News reports that $20 million was moved into a CBP account on September 19 for “commemorative events.” The next day, a $20 million contract went to Maryland advertising firm LMD Agency for a “National Media Campaign.” The ads then began airing.
The money appears to come from the 2025 reconciliation law, which provided CBP with billions for border-security purposes but also included funding for commemorating border-security efforts. At least $1.7 million of the $20 million has already been spent airing three Trump-focused TV ads, according to AdImpact.
