Pentagon sends a third aircraft carrier toward the Middle East as Trump weighs renewed strikes on Iran
The Pentagon is sending the USS Theodore Roosevelt and its carrier strike group toward the Middle East. The USS Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group is also deploying with Marines.
According to U.S. officials cited by the Wall Street Journal, the deployments could add roughly 9,000–10,000 personnel to the region. The ships are expected to arrive by the end of November.
That would potentially put three U.S. carrier strike groups in the region: the USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS George Washington and USS George H.W. Bush. The last time three carriers were there was in April, before the earlier U.S.-Iran fighting paused.
