10 year Treasury bond could hit 6%. Consumer confidence below expectations. So $AAPL – we have both inflation and lower demand?

Investing.com – U.S. 10-year Treasury yields are at risk of reaching 6% for the first time in 26 years as concerns swirl around soaring oil prices, inflation and a large U.S. public debt load, the Financial Times reported on Friday, citing an interview with Pimco.

The bond titan’s Chief Investment Officer Dan Ivascyn told the FT that another jump in benchmark 10-year yields — which last stood at 5.225% — is “feasible,” flagging that investors such as hedge funds could ditch wagers on bonds during a protracted selloff in debt markets.

Apple’s costs are rising
On October 9, Reuters reported that Apple had reportedly asked suppliers to cut October component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max by at least 15% from initial plans.
The reported reason: soaring memory-chip costs, driven partly by AI data-center demand, have pushed up device prices.
– iPhone 18 Pro starting price: $1,199, up $100 year over year.
– iPhone 18 Pro Max starting price: $1,299, also up $100.
– Reported October component-order reduction: at least 15%.
Apple has not confirmed the reported production cuts, and Reuters could not independently verify them. Reuters

The University of Michigan’s preliminary October consumer sentiment index fell to 46.3, against economists’ expectations of 47.8. That was down 13.6% year over year.
Other warning signs:
– Current economic conditions fell to 44.7, a record low for the series.
– One-year inflation expectations climbed to 4.7%, up from 3.4% in February.
– Buying conditions for durable goods deteriorated sharply as prices and borrowing costs rose.
– 54% of surveyed consumers said they expected to cut spending on items experiencing large price increases. Reuters
