Hyundai Motor America is recalling 94,622 vehicles in the U.S. because front power seat motors may overheat from a stuck control switch, potentially causing a fire while parked or driving. Affected models are 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis and 2017–2020 Genesis G80. NHTSA campaign 26V664. Hyundai estimates about 1 percent of the vehicles have the defect. The company is aware of two alleged U.S. fire incidents and reported no related crashes or injuries as of October 1. The remedy is still under development. Owner notification letters are expected December 7. Switches were supplied by Nidec Mobility Korea. Owners are advised to park outdoors and away from structures until repaired.
