Jon Stewart refuses to buy the blue wave hype. He remembers how badly the polls got it wrong.

Jon Stewart’s producer can’t stop smiling as she says Republicans are nervous about getting crushed in the midterms.

Then Stewart brings her back to reality, and that smile disappears real quick.

PRODUCER: “I’m feeling optimistic.”

STEWART: “The national media is so disconnected from the reality of things that all they care about is the horse race and creating narratives around blue wave and not blue wave and tsunami.”

“The polling is ALWAYS so f*cked and SO WRONG that I just really have no sense.”

He’s got a point. In 2020, national polls had their biggest errors in 40 YEARS, overstating Democrats by an average of 3.9 points.

Then Stewart mentions a commercial attacking James Talarico, and suddenly he’s having flashbacks to what crushed Democrats in 2024.

He’s seen too many “blue waves” turn into blue puddles to fall for this one.

Democrats might want to hold the champagne.
