The illiterate part is more of an aspiration, you can still vote if you have a pulse, actually a lot of dead people vote too.

All claims check out. Voting age starts at 16 (optional for 16-17). Compulsory for literate citizens 18-69; optional for illiterates (any age) and those 70+. Blank votes allowed. Elections held on one Sunday (plus runoff if needed). Corporate donations banned since 2015 STF ruling. Replaced by public electoral funds plus free taxpayer-mandated radio/TV airtime allocated by party strength.
