Hormuz tanker hit by small-boat explosives as Iran reports mine strikes

UK Maritime Trade Operations said today a small boat attached two explosive devices to a tanker about 25 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman, starting an engine-room fire that temporarily disabled the vessel. The ship, identified as the Panama-flagged Louise 1, continued after the fire was out. Separately, Iran’s IRGC said two or more tankers that had switched off navigation systems struck mines south of the strait after ignoring warnings. The incidents follow a series of tanker attacks in the strait this month and come as Qatari mediators hold a draft deal with Iran while Trump has said strikes could resume after next week’s midterms.
