Yemen’s Houthis are now directly demanding $51 billion from Saudi Arabia as compensation for years of airstrikes

BREAKING: Yemen’s Houthis are now directly demanding $51 billion from Saudi Arabia as compensation for years of airstrikes and blockade, along with official recognition of Ansarallah as Yemen’s rulers, as baseline conditions for ending the war, per The WSJ.

Riyadh reportedly reached out after Houthi attacks on Aramco facilities, the East-West Pipeline, King Khalid International Airport and Red Sea tankers, alongside territorial gains around Bab el-Mandeb. The Houthis say the $51 billion covers Saudi strikes and the prolonged blockade. Other figures have since been discussed, but the price of an exit remains in the tens of billions.

The demand lands as MBS faces the risk of further attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure. Additional strikes on production facilities or export pipelines could knock millions of barrels per day offline, threatening billions in oil revenue.
