The Demise of the Democratic Party Will Come Soon if They Don’t Change Their Ways

by Robert Carbery

The Democratic Party appears to be going full speed ahead toward its ultimate demise. At least, that’s what’s going on according to what WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said Saturday.

Shared by his Twitter account, Assange stated that the party has been “consumed” by “hysteria about Russia,” something he sees as a “political dead end.” It is upon this crippling “narrative” that the “party’s elite” attempts to keep a hold on power, he said. By maintaining this story without any evidence to back it up, the Democratic Party elite are diverting attention from their own incompetence in an effort to hold onto their power and hold back the Bernie Sanders supporting base.

“Without the ‘We didn’t lose, Russia won’ narrative the party’s elite and those who exist under its patronage would be purged for being electorally incompetent and ideologically passe,” Assange said. Anything to detract from the corruption inherent in the Democratic National Committee and its failed presidential candidate last year.

The Russian hysteria has gone too far. Plenty of Democrats are starting to realize this. By pushing the nonexisting Trump-Russia collusion story, “we are left with the Democratic establishment blaming the public for not liking the truth about what Hillary Clinton said to Goldman Sachs and blaming their own base for not liking what they said in their own emails about fixing the DNC primaries,” according to Assange. The truth hurts. But you have to face it at some point.

After more criticism of the Democratic Party, pointing to six reasons why the Democratic Party is doomed, Assange finished his post by calling on the base of the left to start their own party, as France’s new President Emmanuel Macron did.

The sentiment finally seems to be shifting. Angry grassroots Democrats are becoming fed up with their current leadership. Some have turned on leaders such as Obama, Pelosi, and Schumer, demanding they move on from Russia and talk about more economic issues that people actually care about.

Even Maureen Dowd at The New York Times sees what’s going on. The Democrats see Trump as the Antichrist and so he should start losing some seats in these House special elections, right? Well, Republicans have gone 4-0 so far but the coastal liberals thought they could win at least one of them “because everyone they hang with hates Trump.” That’s how it is here in Seattle. That’s how it’s been in San Francisco for some time. But there are many different people out there in our great country. The Democrats don’t see what is going on and their supporters are getting anxious.

Democratic congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio, who failed to unseat Pelosi for House minority leader last year, says the liberal party’s brand is toxic.

Dowd sums up the Democrats’ current conundrum: “Trump’s fatal flaw is that he cannot drag himself away from the mirror. But Democrats cannot bear to look in the mirror and admit what is wrong.”

Time to look in the mirror and face reality. It can be tough but it has to be done at some point if your party is to survive past this current political upheaval coming at the hands of the Trump administration.
