THAT WAS FAST: ‘Roseanne’ Canceled at ABC Following Racist Tweet.

ABC, in a stunning move, has decided to cancel its Roseanne revival following star Roseanne Barr’s racist tweetTuesday.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said Tuesday.

Early Tuesday, star, head writer and exec producer Barr attacked former President Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett in a since-deleted tweet in which she said “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” Barr subsequently apologized: “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me — my joke was in bad taste.”

As Allahpundit writes, “She’s always been a crank — our own Ed Morrissey has firsthand experience with it — but some forms of crankery are more radioactive than others.”

Update: Well, yes:

ABC has pulled the plug on the revival “Roseanne.”

The move comes after series star Roseanne Barr made a comment on Twitter Tuesday morning referring to former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as looking like the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.” Jarrett, an African-American, was born in Iran to American parents.

Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement.

Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger voiced his support for the cancellation, tweeting“There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.”

Barr deleted her tweet about Jarrett not long after posting it. She followed it up with an apology which read, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste. I am now leaving Twitter.”

Just after Barr’s statement on Jarrett, Wanda Sykes, who worked as a consulting producer on the first revival season, announced she would not be returning for the show’s next season. Series co-star Sara Gilbert then condemned Barr’s comments, saying, “Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least. This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.”

It’s not a huge secret that Roseanne Barr, the star of the ABC hit sitcom, is a rampant conspiracy theorist who likely spends a little too much time in the annals of the internet.

But a glance at Barr’s Twitter feed early Tuesday morning should alarm even the most ardent QAnon-crazy: she falsely claimed Chelsea Clinton was married to the nephew of every anti-Semite’s favorite boogeyman, George Soros, who she accused of trying to “overthrow” the “constitutional republic”, raved about CIA mind control, called Chris Cillizza a “a fucking mouth breather”, called Hillary Clinton “a colostomy jug cuz full of shite,” and made a racist attack on a former Obama official.

Barr’s frantic Twitter marathon kicked off with two tweets — which have since been deleted — claiming Chelsea Clinton was married to George Soros‘s nephew, a (false) rumor that was initially spread by Scott Baio, of all people:
