An outbreak of severe weather is expected this weekend in the South, including the threat of tornadoes, a few of which may be strong.
Ahead of a jet-stream disturbance, low pressure will form in the South Saturday and gain strength as it pushes northward into the Ohio Valley Sunday. This strengthening low will draw warm, humid air north from the Gulf of Mexico.
This potentially volatile combination of ingredients is expected to give rise to an outbreak of severe thunderstorms across the South this weekend.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has issued the following severe weather watches:
A tornado watch valid until 9 a.m. CDT for the Texas Big Bend, including the city of Del Rio, Texas.
A severe thunderstorm watch valid until 9 a.m. CDT for southwest and west Texas, including the cities of Abilene and San Angelo, Texas.
Thunderstorms will continue pushing eastward across parts of western, central and northern Texas Saturday morning.
