Bernie Sanders, the 2020 hopeful, is set to announce on Monday a policy proposal that would eliminate all $1.6 trillion of American student debt, according to a report.
The Democratic presidential candidate’s new proposal calls for the federal government to wipe clean the student debt held by 45 million Americans, including all private and graduate school debt, The Washington Post reported. The proposal package also includes making public universities, community colleges and trade schools tuition-free.
This idea will raise $2T over 10 years in order to cancel $1.6T in CURRENT debt. So what pays for the free tuition that is proposed as well?
Also, this will never happen. Sorry but it takes more than 1 or 2 politicians to get something passed. It will never make it out of the House let alone the Senate. On top of that, no sitting President would sign a bill like this, ever.
This idea that everyone should go to college is stupid. Society needs people with actual skills. A lot of those skills aren’t learned at college they are learned on the job, through apprenticeships, vocational schools and trade schools. Those schools don’t require hundreds of thousands of dollars and classes that mean nothing to the job.
Bernie (much like all the other Dems promising this crap) is just pandering to get votes and boost his standing in the field. This country is not a dictatorship so no matter what is promised it’s not like he would get elected and then just make all this crap happen.
Free college, canceled student loan debt, free healthcare and the rest. None of it will ever happen. These idiots just want to rile people up and get votes.
