COVID vaccines in the US are authorized to PREVENT COVID 19. They are not approved for “reducing severity of symptoms or death.”

I was shocked to see the rampant misinformation circulating that covid vaccines (J&J, MRNA, Pfizer) reduce severity of illness, hosptializations, and/or death.

However, the FDA only gave EUA approval (and eventually full approval for the Pfizer/Comirnaty) to (3) COVID 19 vaccines. The FDA approved indication was to prevent covid 19.

Please don’t listen to celebrities and politicians on Twitter who falsely claim their COVID symptoms were not as severe because they got the COVID vaccine. The COVID vaccines never were approved to reduce symptoms, hosptializations, transmission, or death. The COVID vaccines only authorized use is to prevent COVID.

Every vaccinated person stating they tested positive for covid is a failure of the product.

I hope social media platforms start addressing the vaccine misinformation that vaccines are meant to reduce severity of illness. That lie conflicts with the FDA EUA and approval information for all three available COVID vaccines in the US.
