VB Waste Collections employee tests positive for COVID-19; Friday trash collections suspended
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach Waste Collections employee tested positive for COVID-19, which prompted officials to suspend Friday’s collections to address workplace safety concerns.
“We know it was an inconvenience for our customers and we appreciate the consideration while we made sure our employees were safe,” said Public Works Director Mark Johnson.
The city says waste collection will resume on Tuesday, April 7, on a one-day delay. So, Friday’s customers will get pickup on Tuesday, the Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, the Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, the Thursday routes on Friday and Friday routes on Saturday, April 11.
If you normally get recycling service next week, it will follow the above schedule.
