For years, the USA’s largest export was trash. Did you ever wonder how Waste Management became the dominant trash company?
It wasn’t because there was such a big market for trash pickup. It was because there was a massive market for shipping waste to China. So much that US domestic recycling centers were effectively put out of business and shut down.
This helped fill up thousands of shipping containers, because the US can’t fill them with anything else.
China needed all the trash, because the factories needed the metals, plastics, and paper for the production of new products. Then the foreign trash trade was shut down.
Now we are choking on containers, and nobody really wants to ship empties.
