The federal government only has the authority to go after federally-chartered companies who owe federal taxes. Property taxes are municipal and they are the ones who will seize your house and auction it off. If you owe personal income tax they give you just about every opportunity to pay it off before they start trying to seize assets, they would much rather take cash-money by garnishing your wages and withholding future benefits.
