A Chinese whistleblowing scientist has said many lives could have been saved if her government hadn’t covered up her work on coronavirus.
Virologist Li-Meng Yan, who was based at the Hong Kong School of Public Health, is speaking out about a Beijing cover-up over the outbreak as she hides in the US.
The Chinese government has been accused of trying to silence anyone who had earlier tried to raise the alarm before the killer bug became a pandemic earlier this year which has killed 576,432 people globally as of Monday.
Dr Yan wants to expose the Chinese government saying they knew about the novel coronavirus before publicly acknowledging the outbreak.
Speaking to journalist Bill Hemmer, Dr Yan said “we don’t have much time”.
“This is a huge pandemic we have seen in the world,” she said.
”It’s more than anything we’ve known in human history. So, the timing is very, very important. If we can stop it early, we can save lives.”
She said she feared for her life if she spoke out while she was in China so fled to the US where she is currently hiding at secret location.
She told Fox News: “The reason I came to the US is because I deliver the message of the truth of Covid.
