During the Canadian trucker protests last winter, the protesters were routinely smeared as violent white supremacists, not only in the press and online, but even by the Canadian government. Now that same government has been forced to admit that the truckers’ violent reputation was wildly overblown, and the smears were little more than officially sanctioned propaganda that many others were more than happy to spread.
