Considering Joe Biden is the front runner at the moment, let’s take the time to review some of his contributions to the war on drugs and prison industrial complex:
- Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 – Co-Sponsor and partly written: This bill expanded “Civil asset forteiture” which allowed the police to seize cash, cars, guns or anything else without proving guilty. It also established the federal Equitable Sharing Program that gave up to 80% of the value seized to local and state police, creating a for-profit incentive for the police to rob people.
- Anti Drug Abuse Act of 1986 – Co-sponsor – This Gem of a bill created minimum sentences for drugs and the 100 to 1 ratio for Crack to Cocaine. Essentially, someone would need to have 100 times the amount of powered cocaine in order to receive the same sentence. Considering we know the CIA was flooding the inner cities with crack cocaine, seems a bit fishy.
- 1988 Anti-Drug Abuse Act – Sponsored – Which strengthened prison sentences for drug possession, trafficking and set up the Office of National Drug Control Policy, AKA “Drug Czar”, which was a term Joe actually coined in 1982.
- Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 – Authored – Which again strengthened sentencing with the three-strikes laws and increased funding for prisons. It also incentives Local and States and perpetuated mass incarceration. This helped explode the prison population.
Basically, Joe Biden helped create the War on Drug and Prison Industrial Complex that now is used as a slave labor pools. This has also lead to the militarization of the police and something that should be brought up every time this POS’s name pops up. Have a good one!
