Mexicans vow to fight Trump by jamming courts… Canada trying to capitalize on executive order… Hundreds arrested… More illegals flee north

MEXICO CITY—Influential Mexicans are pushing an aggressive and perhaps risky strategy to fight a likely increase in deportations of their undocumented compatriots in the U.S.: jam U.S. immigration courts in hopes of causing the already overburdened system to break down.
The proposal calls for ad campaigns advising migrants in the U.S. to take their cases to court and fight deportation if detained. “The backlog in the immigration system is tremendous,” said former Foreign Minister Jorge Castañeda. The idea is to double or triple the backlog, “until [U.S. President Donald] Trump desists in this stupid idea,” he added.
Mr. Castañeda is part of a group of Mexican officials, legislators, governors and public figures planning to meet with migrant groups Saturday in Phoenix to lay out plans to confront the Trump administration’s deportation policy.

Mexico’s government hasn’t endorsed the strategy or the group’s Phoenix mission. But it recently allocated some $50 million to assist undocumented migrants facing deportation, and President Enrique Peña Nieto has instructed the country’s 50 consulates in the U.S. to defend migrants.

Vancouver long has sought a share of Silicon Valley’s magic. With President Trump moving to curb immigration and the U.S. tech industry in open revolt, the friendly, functional Canadian city may finally get its wish.
Tech companies that keep satellite offices in Vancouver, just a two-hour flight from San Francisco, are exploring whether to move more jobs over the border. Immigration lawyers are reporting a steep uptick in inquiries. And a start-up is offering to smooth the way, for $6,000 a person, for foreign-born tech workers worried their U.S. visas may disappear.
“The global implications are dire,” said Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson of the unrest in the United States. “But it may result in more workers coming to Vancouver to be part of the boom here in a city that welcomes immigrants with open arms.”

Federal agents conduct sweeping immigration enforcement raids in at least 6 states
U.S. immigration authorities arrested hundreds of undocumented immigrants in at least a half-dozen states this week in a series of raids that marked the first large-scale enforcement of President Donald Trump’s Jan. 26 order to crack down on the estimated 11 million immigrants living here illegally.
The raids, which officials said targeted known criminals, also netted some immigrants who did not have criminal records, an apparent departure from similar enforcement waves during former President Barack Obama’s administration that aimed to just corral and deport those who had committed crimes.
Trump has pledged to deport up to 3 million undocumented immigrants with criminal records. Last month he also made a change to the Obama administration’s policy of prioritizing deportation for convicted criminals, substantially broadening the scope of who the Department of Homeland Security can target, to include those with only minor offenses or those with no convictions at all.
Immigration officials confirmed that agents this week raided homes and workplaces in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, the Los Angeles area, North Carolina and South Carolina, netting hundreds of people. But Gillian Christensen, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said they were part of “routine” immigration enforcement actions. ICE dislikes the term “raids,” and prefers to say authorities are conducting “targeted enforcement actions.”

In Austin, Tex., undocumented women working in a laundromat cowered in the back of the room, petrified after seeing a video and a photograph of apprehensions outside a local grocery store and burger joint.

A day laborer and mechanic in Staten Island told his 17-year-old son where the list of emergency contacts were, including the name of the guardian who would take responsibility for him and his two younger siblings.

In Savannah, Ga., undocumented restaurant workers were asking for rides rather than walking home, afraid they might be stopped and questioned.

As reports of immigration raids and roundups have rocketed across Twitter, Facebook and texts around the country, undocumented immigrants, their lawyers and advocacy groups are bracing for the increased enforcement that President Trump has called for.

Susannah Volpe, a managing attorney at Ayuda, an immigrant legal services group in Washington, said she had noticed what seemed to be roundups of people, like those without criminal records, that the government had not previously paid much attention to.

“These are agents going into apartment buildings or agents going to worksites,” said Ms. Volpe, who had a client arrested, along with five others, at a construction site in Washington last week. “This is new.”

Asylum seekers fleeing US for Canada brave snow, extreme cold

Emerson (Canada) (AFP) – Farhan Ahmed hoped to find refuge in the United States after fleeing death threats in Somalia, but fear over a US crackdown on immigration sent him on another perilous journey — to Canada.

The 36-year-old was among nearly two dozen asylum seekers who braved bone-chilling cold on a February weekend to walk across the border, trudging through snow-covered prairies in the dead of night to make a claim in this country.

It was a record number of arrivals for a single weekend in the small border town of Emerson, and Canadian officials said Thursday they are bracing for more.

US President Donald Trump’s controversial ban on refugees and nationals from seven Muslim-majority nations has prompted many who had hoped for a new life in the US to flee north.

Washington (AFP) – President Donald Trump insisted early Saturday that he would bring the price of his planned Mexican border wall “way down,” after US media circulated a government report estimating it would cost $21.6 billion.

In the internal government study, the US Department of Homeland Security said the contentious border barrier would take more than three years to build and the price could soar much higher than the $12-15 billion figure cited by Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan last month.

“I am reading that the great border WALL will cost more than the government originally thought, but I have not gotten involved in the design or negotiations yet” Trump posted in a series of tweets.

“When I do, just like with the F-35 FighterJet or the Air Force One Program, price will come WAY DOWN!” the president promised.

’72 TERRORISTS CAME FROM COUNTRIES UNDER TRAVEL BAN’

Since 9/11, 72 individuals from the seven mostly Muslim countries covered by President Trump‘s “extreme vetting” executive order have been convicted of terrorism, bolstering the administration’s immigration ban.
According to a report out Saturday, at least 17 claimed to be refugees from those nations, three came in as “students,” and 25 eventually became U.S. citizens.
The Center for Immigration Studies calculated the numbers of convicted terrorists from the Trump Seven:
— Somalia: 20
— Yemen: 19
— Iraq: 19
— Syria: 7
— Iran: 4
— Libya: 2
— Sudan: 1

  1. So, these “influential” Mexicans want jam our courts and mess with us because we want to send their criminals back to them?? Sneaking into their country receives serious repercussions yet they don’t want honor our laws? Something very wrong with this picture.

  2. Easy answer, ramp up P.A. on this along with more Judges just for this area if need be. And those advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government, treason for charges, and deportation upon conviction to the country of their choice. Other wise, to the nearest over the boarder seeings as Mexico is also funding these efforts.

    • They tried to shame us into not using the term illegal alien. It backfired! WE prefer the legal term ILLEGAL ALIEN!!! Don’t like it, don’t become one!!! Easily avoidable….

  3. Why don’t they put this much effort in making Mex a likeable place? Oh, yeah, Mexican illegal aliens are too stupid to realize that the last thing their country wants is for them to return! Mexico’s #2 import GNP is from remittances earned in US and sent back to Mexico!!! Deport, deport! I don’t care if you’ve lived here for 150 yrs! As far as breaking up families, take ’em with you, you created the problem. Americans who break the law must deal with their own family issues, the law is certainly not sympathetic to whether or how many children you have or how long you’ve lived under the radar and not gotten caught…

  4. ILLEGALS have no “rights”
    How Mexico Treats ‘Undesirable’ Foreigners
Mexico fiercely maintains laws against illegal border crossings; “verification visits” to enforce visa conditions; requirements that foreigners produce proof of legal status on demand; and enforcement and cooperation between and among immigration officials and law-enforcement authorities at all levels in Mexico. Native-born Mexicans are also empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.
Mexico’s National Catalogue of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizen’s identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest at any time. And for those seeking permanent residency or naturalization, Mexico requires that they must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam, and prove they can provide their own health care.
Applicants are assessed based on a point system using factors such as level of education, employment experience, and scientific and technological knowledge. Property acquisition and ownership by foreigners is still severely restricted. Mexican corporations are banned from hiring illegal aliens.

Mexico’s Immigration Law: Let’s Try It Here at Home Monday May 8, 2006 12:00 AM
Mexico has a radical idea for a rational immigration policy that most Americans would love. However, Mexican officials haven’t been sharing that idea with us as they press for our Congress to adopt the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform bill.
That’s too bad, because Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United States does, has much to teach us about how it handles the immigration issue. Under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico.

    • Damn you Zaphod! How can you say foreign invaders to our country don’t have constitutional rights, when citizens don’t have constitutional rights.
      …wait a second.
Yes, imagine Trump uses Taco rules…that would be funny. I wonder why he doesn’t. It would be like a Fox news Tucker Carlson ending, “Oh, I see, you’re just nuts” For any objection from the invaders of our country and the enemies within that need them.
Unfortunately, the left and enemy within are never arguing, only obfuscating, intimidating and subverting day in and day out. Time for lots of lethal injections after court hearings, imo. I was a Paramedic, I’m willing to help if called. I will be curing the cancer of the body politic, so it’s very ethical, imo.

  5. It will be awesome when Canada is forced not to fly the Canadian flag because it would offend their illegals, now legals for Canadians.
Go ahead Canada, lets see how much money you have for people that will abuse YOUR welfare system. Let’s see if YOU have infinite resources to back up your juvenile “good” intentions.
I didn’t know Mexicans can handle snow. Idts! This is funny as hell. There’s complaints with Sweden’s migrant warriors that they’d rather stay in tents outside of those “cozy” houses AND the weather is too cold. Uh, yo, gtfo out of their country and go back to your hellhole, won’t that work?
Am I missing something, or are beggars not allowed to choose? How crazy are Swedes and the EUistanis, exactly?

  6. So what would happen to Americans (or any other non-mexican national) if they crossed illegally into mexico, demanded benefits and demanded that mexico started speaking English because they were too lazy to learn spanish? Yep, they’d be locked up immediately, and very likely treated inhumanely.
Amazing how the Left and dimocrats turn a blind eye to mexico’s insulting and insane demands that the U.S. take and KEEP its criminals
