There is a new ICD-10 code for covid-19 too, if it’s after 4-1-2020 the dx is U071. Before that date it is the underlying condition such as pneumonia(ex. J189 etc) and then B9729 for the virus.
Translation – Used to classify a pneumonia death as pneumonia, now it’s Covid-19…. and there is more to it than just that sweet Federal money….
