The Optalysys ft:x2000 runs 20 x faster than a 32 core HPC processor and uses 95% less energy. It is also in a PCI slot allowing a desktop PC to offload big data processing to the processor and is currently being used to upscale AI and image processing. It’s only a matter of time before the entire computer architecture needs to be optical from the RAM, CPU and bus speeds. This isn’t quantum processing yet but it is still going to revolutionize computers. Goodbye electrons, hello photons!
