I have always said this is what the tech companies are looking for, to generate enough of a RF field within a chip where it takes the radio wave, converts it to DC electricity, powers the chip briefly, and then spits out the information to be read at a distance.
This is the real reason for 5G. This is why huge bands of spectrum have been vacated, to make way for the ultimate in tracking technology.
