This is a copy of the laws of Virginia, including the Constitution, from 1819. It lists a completely different 13th Amendment than the one in modern Constitutions. There are dozens of similar examples from across the country.

There are numerous examples of an entirely different 13th Amendment with the following text:
“If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive, or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall without the consent of Congress, accept and retain any present, pension, office, or emolument of any kind whatever, from any emperor, king, prince, or foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States, and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them.”

I have been telling people this. Attorneys are not supposed to hold public office. There is a reason for this.
It is interesting that we get Trump into office, who is not an attorney or politician, and things magically start to get better for us.
