Tons of Water Heading downstream in NC from the inland lakes….heads up, folks!

 — With Hurricane floodwaters receding across much of eastern North Carolina, the Army Corps of Engineers said Wednesday that more water will be released in the coming days from Falls Lake and Jordan Lake.

Releases from the two lakes, which feed the Neuse and Cape Fear rivers, respectively, have been minimal since Florence swamped the state, the Corps of Engineers said in a news release.

“Water managers will be gradually increasing releases throughout the week to begin bringing lake levels back down,” the release states. “Floodwaters from Hurricane Florence into Jordan and Falls Lakes filled 60 percent and 50 percent of their respective flood storage pools, preventing even worse flood damages downstream.”
